Full day experiences in the Atacama Desert
We begin to pick up our passengers, at their hotels, from 06:30 AM. Our first stop, after 1 hour of travel, is in the Miscanti and Miñiques altiplanic lagoons located at 4200 meters above sea level. and formed due to the eruption of the volcano of the same name. When we finished, we moved to Piedras Rojas which is a volcanic conglomerate formed from the oxidation of the iron present in that place, accompanying this is the Aguas Calientes Salt Flat. The next stop is in the Atacameño town of Socaire, located at 3,500 meters above sea level. in which you can see the cultivation terraces and visit the patrimonial church of the town. Afterwards, we visit the Atacama Salt Flat, the largest in Chile and which is part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve. Here we stop at the Chaxa lagoon to be able to observe the 3 types of flamingos (Parina chica, parina grande, flamenco chileno) in addition to other species that inhabit the lagoons of the salar. As the last stop we will arrive at the town of Toconao, where we will appreciate the church and the bell tower of San Lucas. After this we return to San Pedro de Atacama around 4:30 p.m.
