Patagonian Fjords & Glaciers Expedition Cruise – 6 Days / 5 Nights
The Chonos route is a 6-day cruise that covers 800 miles and sails every Saturday to return on Thursday between the months of September and April. M/V Skorpios II sails from Puerto Montt, a town located 1,000 km south of Santiago, which can be reached by road or air.
Cruising 800 miles through the channels of Llanquihue, Chiloé and Aysén with a course towards the glacier of San Rafael we visit fishing villages such as Quemchi and Puerto Aguirre and also offer disembarkations at Islote Barrientos, the hot springs of Quitralco, Islote Conejos and Dalcahue.
The multi-colored icebergs of the millennial glacier San Rafael make your magical encounter an unforgettable and unique experience. The glacier was baptized by its discoverer the Spanish Jesuit Juan García Tao in 1620. Today it is considered to be the closest glacier to Equator and was declared as a national park and a Biosphere reserve by the UNESCO in 1978. With its length of 15 kilometers the glacier offers a home to a variety of native Patagonian flora and fauna and is perceived as one of the most active glaciers in Patagonia with its frequent ice-calving. Above sea level passengers will be able to admire the glaciers height of 60 meters, while another 230 meters surface lies dormant below sea level.
While traveling along stunning and majestic nature our passengers will receive the best on-board service by our highly professional crew, known and appreciated for their warm hospitality – representing founders and owners of Cruceros Skorpios: The Kochifas family.
